Up at 6, out by 7ish. Not a dub van adventure but a Ma's Toyota one. Needed Plan B for car parking, Canon's Park instead of Stanmore. Easy enough thanks to the iPhone. Only 3 stops from Wembley Park, several more into Hyde Park though. Sheer fluke that we found out that the Open Water Swim was on today. Got ourselves what we thought was a great spot on the bank of the Serpentine nearly opposite the grandstands. Huge thanks to Uncle Chalkie for lending me his camera. According to the official advice, my camera is banned from Wembley. Anyway, we had nearly 2 hours to kill before the race so amused myself with picture taking and eating almost all my rations for the day. Can the organisers see the humour of this first one?
Athletes were finally announced.. including our Gold Medal prospect Kerri-Ann Payne..
Athletes lining up..
And they're off!!!
Big crowds..
That's our girl at the front!!
All too much for Pops.. he needed a nap!
2012 Duck Olympics also holding their Open Water Swim competition
Ma looking spritely and awake! (bet she had a nap while she was sat under a tree earlier)
Not at the front now..
You must get smacked round the head a lot in this sport (much like me in TKD)
Me like Chalkie's camera!
The medal winners..
Took me ages to find the flags
And ages to get a photos of these 4
Not really worth putting up the video of the finish. We thought we'd got into a great position to see it, then realised that they wouldn't finish where we thought they would. So couldn't really see, and having to listened to hours of inane drivel, the commentary disappeared 200m from the end, so we had no idea what was happening!! Ah well, still good to go and watch an Olympic event, and cheer on a GB athlete.
