Sci Fi Weekend at the Great Central Railway

Managed to persuade Bex and Josh to come too so I wasn't such a lonely geek.. so kicked off at Quorn Station at around half ten, timed nicely for all the Doctors together...

Established that Josh is scared of nothing, and I am a wimp, and that you never stop being a PE teacher.. I started to do the Mummy's shoelaces up for him...

Once several doctors had managed to get a sonic screwdriver working..

we were off on my first ever GCR train ride back home to Loughborough. Can't believe I've lived next to it for 5 years and not been on, was always hoping for a special occasion, and company..

Always stay in character?!

I clearly need to watch more Who, don't remember Ming the Merciless in there..

I declined to be in the Loughborough Echo.. may regret that..

His accent was brilliant.. 12th Doc not Josh...

Best bit..

Waved our train goodbye from Loughborough Station, so stuck there for an hour. Had a spot of lunch.. can't even have a bacon butty undisturbed by those pesky cybermen..

Ended up with even more stuff from the Star Wars clutter guy. Oops.

Eventually escaped to Rothley station for the funfair (that would be more accurately described as pathetic, not the 'family friendly' it was billed as).

Swithland Reservoir..

So, when I have a big house (with a garage for my Harley) I can do this in Lego in the loft..

My train will go round Randomville.. the Falcon in Mos Eisley spaceport, and the odd Tardis or minion dotted around..

Nice geek selfie as we abandoned Bex at Rothley Station and we headed off to Leicester.

More familiar, although I can't remember going on trains much as a kid..

Went to the Greenacres cafe to do the Who trail. Easiest Haribo I've ever earned. Then we deployed a Munzee at the station before watching the engine re couple at the front of the train, but facing backwards!

Got attacked on the way back to Quorn by an Ood..

Who's having a debrief.. No 11 refused to get changed in the phone box superman style

Really should bring Nan Fox here..

Having introduced Josh to Munzee-ing we then had to go find some, which was good as there is this lovely view at the top of the Quorn steps..

Then back for babysitting, and a cheeky cyberman nicking my phone..

Sunday: attempted to be early to the car boot, but didn't really work, didn't matter as Josh enjoyed it. Finally found Da Vinci Code so fell asleep to that after dinner. 51 was best score at Merlin, now blogging, Ferrari when this darn video has uploaded.

Less than 100 pages to go.. seems I may struggle to finish the Ferrari by Christmas, never mind get Artoo done. Ah well..
