Late by the time I got to Vicky's in Leeds Friday night, but lovely to have pasta and chat lots before bed at midnight. Both slept till 9! Wandered out to get bagels for breakfast (yummiest ever) and raid the local charity shops.
Dinner for me, poor Vicky ill and not eating. Walked round to Tropical World but there was a long queue of toddlers, so we wandered off again, via the nearest geocache. Vicky luckily didn't think this was crazy, but got straight into the spirit of it. I had to stick my hand up the lamp post to find the cache, but she happily returned it.
Back to her house for walking boots, then the co-op for lucozade. Discovered that this makes Vicky walk very very fast (until it wore off three hours later then she almost ground to a halt). Decided to go for one of the caches in Roundhay Park. Got distracted by the canoe polo, which looks like an extremely vicious sport, with players getting rammed by canoes and shoved over till they capsize!
One cache turned into a long walk round the whole park to get the other 7 in the trail. Vicky is brilliant at caching, very good at finding them, and doesn't mind getting mucky.
She was well pleased with finding this one..
I really need to spend more weekends with Bumble doing long walks in the Peaks, I suck at walking up hills now. I'll have to look for some cache trails as this was really good fun. Especially the multis. Gutted to not get the last one (No 2). We did the first stage, worked out the co-ordinates, then got to within 12m when.... the phone battery died. Grrrr. Still, brilliant excuse to go back, and to get the two bonus caches too. Oh.. first caches in Yorkshire, so another county added, but not sure yet which of the four 'ridings' this counts as.
Brilliant treasure swapped today :-) but no trackables :-(
Bought whatever crap was on offer in tescos, and lots of curry, was feeling v hungry. Tummy had other ideas once I started eating though. Both of us feeling awful by the time we went early to bed.
Neither of us felt like getting up and running a long way, but we made each other, knowing we'd feel better (if only psychologically) for doing it. Did the usual being late getting to the start because of faffing and queues for the loos. Don't think I've ever done a proper warm up! Really struggled up the first few hills and Vicky tried to throw herself at the ground (and take me with her) but we both settled into a gentle pace and it was quite nice. Loved running outside and seeing scenery and not sweating buckets. By the time we crossed the finish line I'd totally got the bug again. MUST join Barrow Runners or Bex or both and start racing again. Vicky was an absolute hero for doing the race today, she did brilliantly, not having eaten for 24 hours. I may be too scared to run with her now.. she'll leave me in her dust!
So motivated by today that I stopped off on the M1 on the way home to get some new trainers in the Adidas Outlet store at J28. Failed. No Supernovas. And nothing that I tried on fitted. Well, the 3/4 running tights did, but I chickened out of getting them. Too self conscious. Still, am still in debt from the summer anyway, so probably a good thing.
Yeah, it is the GB that Hope Powell wore (well, not the actual one, but...)
Right, I've been good and unpacked, and done the washing and logged my caches and done my blog. Time to eat rubbish and watch Harry Potter methinks. I'll leave you with some good advice...
