Parents at the flat late wednesday. Lots of faffing Thursday morning (including blowing the fuse on Bumble's fag lighter inflating the tyres properly) so late leaving for Bath. Hardly any traffic though till we got to Bath itself. Got lucky finding a car park opposite the YMCA to drop off. Less lucky finding a long stay, got stuck in the one way system, but then found the Travelodge one (£5 24hrs). Thanks to all this we thought we'd missed the Mayor's Guides tour.. but luckily they hadn't left the abbey yet, so we tagged on.
Just as good the second time, but all flagging by the end. So we went to Sally Lunn's for tea and buns!!! They were MASSIVE! and yummy.. with cinnamon butter. Mmmm. Booked the table for lunch tomorrow too..
England very Anti-Gay even then! Popped into a few shops (Disney hehe) then back to the YMCA (you have to do the actions everytime) for nap/DS/form filling. Then our to Wagamamas for tea. I'm still not convinced, but the ice cream was lovely! Turns out Em was in there too... but didn't check her phone till she got home.
Friday. Showers and breakfast fine. Top bunk cool. Stinky corridor not good. Escaped to the shops again. Had to be very restrained in the Bath rugby shop on Pulteney Bridge as I knew there would be a week of surf shops to negotiate! Glad I bought the large frying pan in a Millets sale. Regret not buying the sleeping bag (discovered rip in Vango one from DofE aged 18 the day after). Me and Pops went to the Holburne museum (cause it was free) while Ma toddled off to the Costume museum at the Assembly Rooms.
Had a splendid lunch in the Pump Rooms. Was my birthday present to Ma. She'll get a CD next year, it was bloody expensive! Had to have some Bath Oliver biscuits (prefer Jacobs crackers) and I'm not sure Brie counts as a 'local cheese'.
I am going for a career change. I own and suit and I can play this tune...
Disappointed over my assumption that Lunchtime Programme at the Abbey would be a concert. Instead we managed to catch up with Em. Briefly. Outside the sweet shop. Then we have to move Bumble. Then we had to find Em again. Walked miles (ish) to the Cupcake place that had moved. V quick coffee then I had to run to get Bumble off the car park in time. Nice to see Em and Becks tho.
Bit more traffic on the way down to Cornwall. And fog. And just what is a Nimlet? Luckily the rain stopped for us to put up the Loughborough Hilton in the CC 'certified location' that we found without too much trouble. However, there was no refreshing cuppa with the Bath Bun, as I didn't have the right adapter for the gas bottle. Lost at Sevens repeatedly then off to kip in Bumble with a surfboard for company.
