Made for me?

The Animal T4 even has a Rossi 46 sticker in the window!!!!

Just spent ages on ebay and Pistonheads.com looking at Campers and T4s. The one on ebay does compare well price wise. The ones I have found cheaper are nowhere near as nice inside. Need to find out the mileage on the Animal one.

Did some calculations about affordability. The ad says 50mpg for this van. If I've got my maths right (not guaranteed!) mine only does about 26mpg. So.. long trips far more affordable :-)

Rollercoaster

Was really high this morning, all hyper about that van before going to church. Spoke to Swanny about it and 5 minutes later he was (well, God was) ripping my heart out about everything that hurts me. Its all to make me stronger apparently.

Anyway, same thing when I got home. Had just about recovered from that and then a phone call from Dad had me rock bottom again. I'd sent him a link to the van on ebay. Had I thought about this, and that, and can I afford the running costs, and in the present economic climate... and is now the right time and....

I almost gave up then.

But I don't want to turn into my father. I want to live my dreams. I want to trust God and live life to the full and try things.

I need to learn which father to ask permission, and discuss plans with.

'Cause maybe one day... just one dream might come true

Found my van... ?

Been looking at T4 vans on ebay this week. This one is gorgeous.. and its in Leicester. Now I just have to persuade Pops. Or, me and Em could go see it next weekend and just buy it. Shame its an N reg. I love the table..

and it's Animal!!!!

Decided to follow the Dark Side

Sunday morning blogging in bed with coffee. Nice. Love my weekend flat routine.. but am looking forward to waking up in a van on a sunny Sunday morning... one day!

Spent rather too much of yesterday faffing with the new GPS. Trying to update it failed 3 times, then it seemed to magically be already updated. Lets hope its not all screwed up already. Then on to the important things.. getting the right voice for when I'm being told where to go. Went for Darth Vader in the end.. think I said earlier Yoda would be too confusing when I am stressed out stuck in a one way system.. but then hopefully that won't happen with the new TomTom. Also got Billy Connolly, as I think he will be a lovely travelling companion (and I had to spend more than 8 quid to use the free voucher).

Will download the Eddie Izzard voice at some point too.. but thats from Eddie's site, not TomToms.. plus I can't spend any more money right now.. am still badly in debt thanks to Christmas and TKD membership fees :-(

A sense of direction

No, I'm not being all deep and philosophical... I just bought a new GPS!

The old one's days have been numbered for some time now, I cried myself to sleep after it got me stuck in a one way system in Leicester with Luke resulting in the work shift from hell. I nearly threw it out of the window, then almost left it on the roof with a note saying 'steal me' after I was an hour late getting to George's flat in Nottingham. The final clincher was when I found myself going down a single track road to nowhere in the snow and ice trying to get back from Emma's in December.

So. Got a nice little TomTom. Next decision to make is whether I get the Yoda or the Darth Vader voice! My bro did point out that Yoda would give you the last bit of the instruction first. Mmm confusing that would be!

Actually, the Tour idea does give me a sense of direction. It really helps having something to work towards, rather than being stuck in the present. Which sucks. Keep praying.

And so it begins...

I was watching Stephen Fry in America on Thursday (20th Jan 2011) and thinking how cool a trip like that would be. I am aware, however, that I have no money and a tiny car that however much I love it, is still slowly rusting to pieces.

So. A cool trip.. but on a smaller scale. How about trying to go to every county in England. That's the trip. (Well, trips plural to be accurate). The cool part will be doing it in a Camper Van.

Back to the no money issue. No 1964 T1 Samba for me then. I can probably rule out any original camper van, on cost and rust grounds. I can rule out a new campervan on the grounds that they start at 22k.

A secondhand Transporter may then be the solution of choice. Hopefully a diesel would be fairly efficient, or a petrol may be LPG convertable. And its more than possible to get it insulated and carpeted out inside. Aspie brain is plotting away about solutions inside for mattress/surfboard/bike.

So. An idea. Half a plan. First thing is to get the van. That will require research and continued money earning. Last summer at the IYS was a massive start, but extra jobs seem to have dried up. Back to reading the CV mags then hehe!
