10225 R2 D2

MacBook is busy chugging through 117 gig of time machine back up.. So time to sort the bits in preparation for the building of Artoo movie. Think I have all I need...

Finally completed back up over the weekend. Was brave and installed Snow Leopard Friday evening while playing Dutch Blitz... couldn't face watching yet another 'time remaining' bar slowly tick down. Got it to work once I had persuaded Firefox to force quit, then restarted.

Saturday morning put Mavericks on, it finishing installing in the car on the way to the computer repair place on Rowntree way. They can put more RAM in, but it may take a while. Depends how fussy the Mac is.

Saturday afternoon was Norwich v Man Utd. We so deserved to win, aside from the opening 10 mins we were all over them. They only had one shot on target, thanks to two lucky deflections.. and they bloody scored. Oh well, they played much much better than on Boxing Day (lost 2-1 to Fulham) and our parking was cheaper.

Sunday... made Chalkie a little video thanking him for the software updates and camera stuff.. thus proving that it all works together. Off to Hemsby for dinner.. or not as it turned out.. by the time we were ready for chips the chippy was shut. Spent too long on the beach lamenting the demise of 3 more chalets..

Monday.. up and made proper coffee for breakfast, with Ma's new toy from Chalkie.. then sorted her out with her desired ringtone (cliff) on her new phone. Was still arsing around in my onesie when Chalkie appeared at the door! oops, so quick shower then off to Steve's to see his man cave. Or actually to help Helen fix her new phone. Person in the EE shop had put the SIM card in wrong, so tweezers and a brain sorted that one. Nothing could help her remember her password for BBM though, so had to create a whole new ID. Connecting to her wi fi was the easiest part. Good job I accepted the offer of a pigs in blankets toast sandwich, as it ended up being well over two hours by the time we escaped.

Was hoping for chips again, from Norwich market. But yet again, they were shut by the time we got there. Ah well.

Apple old, should have got all stars, lewis, tv movie. chalkie b day, patisserie,  monopoly.

Christmas with the boys

Christmas Eve according to the usual timetable, Ma doing disgusting things to a dead bird, seeing Sam, midnight mass at St Peter Mancroft, which this year was candlelit.

Up early CM day for a run... Santa had been (Harry mocked me later for having put on my parts the year he hadn't) failed miserably to find the geocache near Chalkies. Watched 2 mins of muppet Christmas carol, then had to rush breakfast and shower to get round the crem and Nan's before the boys arrived allegedly at ten.

Santa had been again.. sacks for the boys.. should have been a sign of the manic things to come. By the end of the day I wondered how Santa hadn't had to remortgage, but it was clear how they had kept themselves busy for the last month or three. Seems that the best toy was one from the toy box, when Jenson discovered that Henry's tube can be used as a whistle..

Dinner... was, to quote Jon.. "warm and on time". So, new kitchen and the West Wing all worth it. Hope Ma was happy, because it was really nice. Best in years. Not tummy ache starving from waiting till 4 and not tummy ache overstuffed and this year we served ourselves, and it was all warm thanks to two previous year's presents from Chalkie. Anyway, was delicious. Well done Ma.

Cracker toy races and me alledgedly entertaining JJ after dinner, till we were allowed to move into the front room. This Christmas we discovered that with a three year old around you don't actually get to open your own presents. In fact you don't even get to find out which ones are your presents.. JJ first ripped off the label of anything near him, then began opening. Hilarious, but quite how Harry keeps track of things is beyond me. At one point she said "this Lego pencil case.. is it JJ's or Jenson's?"  Ma replied.. "actually it's Gemma's!".

Time to play with the toys.. Thomas was cool, he actually blew steam. Didn't get to play with Jake's pirate ship though. Me and Chalkie got to show off our matching outfits :-)

Sadly Jon et al had to leave before tea, but not before cheese puffs! Leggett genes running strong hehe. The traditional board games and cards, then the traditional toasted turkey sandwiches. Everyone tired out early this year. The whole day seemed to shift forwards a couple of hours.

Boxing day.. reading in bed till brought coffee! although not a Nespresso (Ma's present). Off to Carrow Road on the bike in the afternoon. Pops is right, all the bike kit helps keep you warm! We took an early lead, but then threw it away and let Fulham beat us 2-1. City pretty poor. Day didn't get any better when we went out to the bike. Turned out to be expensive rather than free parking. Council are just mean. Boxing Day for flips sake. Spent the evening backing up the Macbook and playing Blitz.

It's now 12th Jan, so as usual I can't remember what we did each day. It may well have been Friday that me and Ma and Chalkie went into the city. Very restrained sale shopping. Saw Lewis. Should have bought the Simpsons All Stars. Actually, don't think it was Friday. Must have been after the Saturday night. Hmmm. Saturday was Football.. on the bike to see City take on Man U. We were like a different team. Attacking and positive. Should have won, we had all the chances. They got their one chance through 2 lucky deflections, and typically, they scored. Cheaper parking this time. Had to stop Pops from starting a fight with a car, mainly as I'd have been no help as blind from the moment the helmet went on. Visor broken so constantly steamed up.

Saturday night Mum put on a party. I sneaked off when the guests started arriving to go watch Star Wars in the front room. Once discovered, Jo brought Lewis in so he could hide too. He is a brilliant guy. Chatty and funny and into his computers and stuff. Had a great night in the end. Teamed up for the picture quiz. I think we lost quite badly, as both of us have better things to do than read celebrity magazines and watch reality TV! Jon's texts made me laugh later.. when they had to leave to get back to Sheringham there was a stampede for the exits! Was quite weird to have everyone gone by 11pm! Jo's excuse was the best.. the dog may have 'curled one out' on the kitchen floor!

Sunday... think I got the coffee machine out. More backing up... spent a large portion of the holidays watching a 'time remaining' bar slowly tick down. Decided we should have chips at Hemsby for dinner. Got there and spent ages walking on the beach looking at the devestation of the recent storms...

photos

Played ball to keep warm, then back to the cafe for hot choc, then Martins Bingo. Chalkie got 5 wins, very nearly three in a row! Turns out I was the only one that didn't win. Although actually falling asleep while playing probably doesn't help! However, by the time we had finished playing the chippy was shut!

Gets really tricky to remember the second week. Was probably Monday that we went to the city. Most of the rest of the time was spent backing up Mac, then making R2, filming easy thanks to the awesome presents from Chalkie.

New Years Eve very quiet.. just Chalkie and Nan round. Fun and games getting the Raclette working without tripping out the whole house electrics! Ended up running an extension lead from Nan's cooker socket.

Was very yummy in the end, and ate loads.

Played board games leading up to midnight.. started with playing Heads Up on my phone... was hilarious. TV logo hilarious when Pops thought Star Trek had the Romlians in! Even more hilarious when Pops was trying to hum the Dr Who theme.. not only did it sound nothing like Dr Who, but it did sound like it was being hummed by Frank Spencer!!

Nuts, it's now Feb. No hope of remembering anything. Will just add the pics of presents, sale bargains and charity shop bargains. Still trying to make room in the flat. Am very, very grateful for it all though. Thanks everyone. Evidently, and predictably, I went back to the city for those All Stars..

Big tick

Huge task from the year's To Do list completed last night... Finally finished the iPhoto back up.
17 DVDs and two external hard drives later I have trimmed the roundabout 14000 photos to under 10k left on the mac and now have a whopping 28gig free. Almost ready for the Mac OS upgrade, animation software upgrade (ram upgrade?) and ipad transfer. Geek Christmas here I come!!!

Are you an adult?

F Squadron Christmas dinner on Monday. Was dreading it, for its poshness, the dress requirements, and mostly the fact I was trying to avoid someone. Life is cruel sometimes. Tells me I have no chance, regardless of whether I looked fabulous in a dress or not, then two days later texts me for the first time and spends the night looking bloody amazing in the same uniform that is responsible for the last 5 months of confusion. Sigh.

Anyway... TGF nice Cadets. Hung out with them in the waiting area, successfully avoiding adults. Was fab to see one of our girls in waistcoat and trousers, and amazed at the balls it took for another to be there in a posh dress. Body language was a mini version of how mine would be if I'd had to wear a frock.

Anyway... was a great nice sat with some of our older girls. First time I have ever felt like the cultured one.. I was explaining to them which cutlery to use and how the toasts work etc. However I was also responsible for the flicking the frog from the cracker into the pint glass game. I learned that I'm quite crap at it. I also learned not to be kind and let the cadets go first with the vegetables. The little toads snaffled all the roasties and left me with... sprouts. Sigh.

Best moment of the night was when the waitress came round with the glasses for the port...
"Excuse me, are you an adult?"
"That's a matter for debate, but yes"
Puts down glass, while all surrounding Cadets piss themselves laughing.. She then proceeds to make it worse with...
"Sorry, but it's hard to tell with some of the older boys" !!!!

And that's why I don't like change.

Finally cleared enough room on the iPad to do the ordered by school upgrade to iOS7. And already don't like it. Won't load the FB app. All the neat swipe tricks I'd learned don't work. And it's just different.

Have downloaded a calendar/reminders app, so hopefully will help me to organise. Although its really just yet another super long to do list. Today's calendared event... Star Wars in ITV at 3:15!!

Did 9.5km on the treadmill this morning. Not totally wiped out. Pops sent a photo from Nan's house..

Felt even more depressed about the way my life is going.

Then PC on to tackle the accounts. So far I've managed to get from this...

to this...

Hardly impressive. But a start. Next pile to tackle is this...

and to polish my boots ready for the Parade tomorrow. Am so worried.

And if I work hard before Christmas tackling all these piles, then I get to spend the holidays tackling this...

Sunday: Survived my first Remembrance Parade as a Cadet (well, CFAV). My marching was no worse than theirs! They all did pretty well considering how much standing still and silent today required.

Made it back via Tescos in time for the last MotoGP of the season. Really sad that it's the last one for Jerry Burgess and the BBC. Let's hope that Vale can get a few wins next year, and that Cal has not made the stupidest decision in the history of stupid decisions.

Now transferring a VHS to DVD for Clare, while ripping the last of the NOW CDs, and starting to scan everything into the library app on the phone and iPad. GEEEEEEK!!!

Fri 15th Nov.

Well, got a job for a few more weeks. More a stay of execution than anything else. Shame there is no credit given for staying at school an extra 4 hours to help run a charity obstacle course, clear away said course, organise our non existent football team playing in a tournament that I had two days notice of (that's on a Wednesday afternoon, so again unpaid overtime) and do the restorative justice interview with a child who just told me she is not ever going to do my lessons. Then my boss saw me and told me I should be on bus duty. She got politely corrected. Inspired to keep trying?? no. Realise when I got to the van what an idiot I'd been for staying? Yup. Get told by a friend to give up as I have no chance? Yup. Feel like carrying on with life? Nope. Did running 10k help? kinda.

Sat 16th Nov.
Woke at stupid o clock. Audible, then watched Rage on iPad. Solely because had Eddie and Judi in it.
Haircut didn't go well. Have a small accidental bald patch. Should have stopped here..

I am so ugly. Oh well. Cleaned bathroom, washing on, started on mail pile. Dinner. Finished mail pile. Finally..

Tragic that an empty floor is an achievement. Was going to iron. Shirt owner away for the weekend. Fail. Watched Star Wars, and made LEGO model of the scene I was watching :-)

Found replacement website for gomusicnow. Downloaded Overtones and Robbie's latest. And started sorting out iTunes. Did ABC. Afternoon disappeared. Now to watch the end of Star Trek Into Darkness as fell asleep at ten last night.

Sun 24 Nov
Did 10k on the treadmill last week. None this week as I fear I cracked a rib last Sunday and it still hurts to breathe. Such an idiot. Stood up on treadmill and whacked ribs on metal spike. Winded myself and thought 'that's gonna hurt more later'. It does.

Enjoyed reading Jane Eyre in bed yesterday instead of running. Got some stuff done, like maths marking and the rest of the ironing but as usual the day just kind of disappeared. Dr Who was awesome and I am now a total fan. I already knew that Tennent and Hurt were cool, but now like Smith too. Emma Thompson on Graham Norton was also fab. She was being very cool and confident and also very hilarious. Be confident enough in yourself to be honest and silly. That's my lesson to learn from her.

Friday night I took Joshua to see Lion, Witch, Wardrobe at school. Was pretty good, but mostly I was just praying that my phone was back at Bex's. It wasn't. But hurrah for Find my iPhone. And a torch. Prayers answered when I found it in a pile of leaves. Need to learn to 'trust my feelings Luke'. As I knew putting it in hoody pocket was a bad idea.

Saturday I converted this...

to this...

and this...

 to this...

And at some point during the last week I converted the ACF pile to this...

Much more Army like all 'squared away'.
