Up early to pack. Lost place in bathroom.. Never let one person in for a wee... Three people later (including Nan having a 'proper wash') I finally got to have my shower. Stuff in van then off to the Roche rock to find the cache. Further than I thought. Found the huge ammo tin and managed to not drop the big stone on my foot. Ran back and made it in for a last wee just before ten.
Long drive back up to meet emsy in Bath. Interesting bit when Trev nearly wiped me out with a very last minute decision at a junction.
Met Em's in Bath and found a short cut to town. Few shops. Managed an animal store without buying anything. Sally Lunn's for buns and tea and a quick visit to the sweet shop.
Decided against climbing when I remembered on the way out of Bath that we wanted to get photos of bumble on the Royal Crecent. Tee hee.
chips for tea at the cottage while watching the old BBC Narnia series.

Padstow
Mon
Lots of rain so went over to see Daphne then got to go shopping at Fraddon, where I spent more than all of my holiday money on bargain Animal stuff in Nevisports. Oops. (btw this was the total for the week, not just an afternoon in Nevisports, although that doesn't make it any less bad)
Tues
Up early and off to Fistral with Pops for an early morning surf. Eventually found the car park right down on the beach. Was a superb sport. The sea was literally 10m away as the tide was right in. However, it was also really windy and seemed really high surf and no-one was around, and definitely no-one in the water. So had a wimp attack. Drove around for a bit looking for the other two bays the surf hire guy recommended. No luck. Even at the bottom of a No Vehicles road. So, back to the car park at Fistral. Were some others in now, and the lifeguards had arrived, so got into the wetsuit and went for it. Was great fun.. but sooooo cold. Got no hair and so the back of my head was so cold, with the cold wind, and then every wave that got me! The worst was when it started raining/hailing while I was in the sea. that actually hurt!
I really should get waterproof contacts. Couldn't see Chalkie until 5m away. They had just arrived and got set up with windbreak and tarpaulin as I conceeded defeat to the cold. Was sooo nice to have Bumble right there to get changed in. Packed them up then I hit the surf shops while they hit the cafe.
I so want a pair of these... Lego Crocs!!!
Actually bought a 'gimp' hat and gloves. And a thinner watch strap. Car park conference decided that we would go to Port Isaac, on the basis that everyone else wanted to see where Doc Martin lives. And this is it...
You'd think Nan would look a bit more pleased considering she was the one that wanted to come here!!! Anyway, tea and cake (no death) and a souvenir pencil from Chalkie by the slipway, then we dragged Nan back up the hill. She stopped at the house with the bum, and Chalkie was sent off in search of a Mazda.
Just remembered that it was an eventful journey from Newquay to Port Isaac... Pops broke Bumble's ear!! Darth took us on a crazy route (one of many) and on a not really wide enough road a nasty 4x4 didn't slow down and didn't pull over and so smacked wing mirrors. Glad it wasn't me driving. Poor Bumble. Made it back in time for a yummy tea at the pub and then a disastrous performance in the pub quiz. Chalkie got the Bond questions, I got Oscar Wilde, and Nan only answered one question. Well, two but she got the Bingo one very wrong. And don't tell her I didn't write down her answer for the one she got right!
Wed
Another slow start then met Daphne at Fraddon then on to Padstow. Quick tour of full car parks then back up to the park and ride. Had very nice chips for dinner sat on the harbour wall watching the fish. Couldn't afford Rick Stein's fish and chips, but mum did get his scones and jam for a cream tea later. Nice stroll around, predictably finding yet another Animal store.
Parted from Daphne and David then off to Tintagel. Nan went in the amusements as she had been to Tintagel 50 years ago. Lol. We managed to miss all the signs and ended up walking round to the Camelot Hotel. A really naff attempt at a castle. There was a good view from there though..
And I got to jump on a Helipad. Me and Pops elected to walk to the castle itself, but it wasn't till you ran down a really long steep hill (passed by lazy people in a Land Rover) and got past the tea shop and souvenir shop and other English Heritage rubbish and right up to the headland, that they then tell you they want a tenner each for you to actually see the castle. I refused to pay. Makes me angry having to pay to see something that is part of our history, just because some quasi-government organisation has taken taxpayers money to build loos and a tea shop there. Grrr. oh dear starting to sound like a rant. Anyway. The trek back up the hill wasn't so much fun.
Refused to pay for castle.
Thurs watergate if surf app to be believed falmouth sick friday. um megavissey.

He is Risen indeed!
Up early to make exploding egg banjos for breakfast then somehow last in the bathroom queue. Lift to Roche to go to church. Service started hour earlier than reception lady had said. I wimped out of opening the big wooden door at the front of the church and strolling in. Went to Bugle to look for paper shop. Came across a Methodist church just before 10:30. Was brave and went in. Was hilarious. Vicar lady was mad. And obsessed with my shoes!! Organist also having a chuckle at the vicar's rambling moments.
Organized a walk as it wasn't yet raining and we needed to get out and do something. More of an adventure than intended. Interesting stiles and non existent paths and fields with rather large cows in. Also shorted than intended as path disappeared and nice lady whose dog we had disturbed warned us it was a bog. Found a cache on the way back. The clue was 'trolls' so I knew it was be under the bridge.
Hot cross bun and a cuppa to revive us. Finished Chris Evans second book. Then out to St Austell in search of Sunday dinner. Found the Spoons Ma remembered from the summer. Was making use of the free wi fi but now my chocolate sundae has arrived. Must be home by 8 for the first round of the GP. Come on the Doctor!!

Easter sat
Hyper ten mins beach boys. Bored by shepshed. Advantage of Emma always being late found first geocache at the services. Devon cream tea in Tiverton. Jam on top disaster. A30 empty. Poor Dubvan count. 2 bays. 1 wave from t4.
Ran up hill to ma recognized sound of bumbles door.
Shrek with cuppa. Pub for tea.

Rust heap to cafe racer??
That's the idea for this Honda 400 4 at Loughborough College. I am 'supervising' a small group of Year 9s, but really they just let me play too :-)
I so badly want my own garage now! well, and the knowledge, skills, time and money required to do this myself.I may suggest an idea to Pops, and see how much I get laughed at.
Saw Naomi and Isabel last week, someone is a bit clever!!
This week's message of hope: ...one day....
Great race with Josh on Saturday. Was really ready for my bath by the time I got back from work with Jamie at about 9! Was great fun going through the stream 6 times. Josh was 13th overall and 2nd 5 year old. What a star!

Easter Egg Run
My first proper CMA ride out.. the charity run from Anstey to the Victoria bikers pub in Coalville. Met up at the Nook then church service in Anstey. It was really good. Especially the donkey. Was a bit nervous when we made it back to the car park. Ian was saying I wasn't comfortable with doing the second man marshaling, while I was stood right behind him. So I had a moment of bravery and said I'd do it. Lots of prayer then, asking to not let me screw it up. Typically I was faffing, so nearly missed the start.. sneaked round the outside. Was all good though. Ride was really slow, but I don't mind that! And I did my pointing left part ok, was v happy to see Uncle Terry at the back, who let me back into the long snake of bikes.
Did regret lending Ian the loudhailer from school, when he sneaked up behind me, put it right in my ear, then hit the siren. I pretend kicked him. He deserved actual contact. Was great to chat to people (well, mostly I listen) and a nice bacon butty too. Colin commented that I was definitely getting the hang of this!
Home now, sorting out car booty (fear Animal hoody way too big) and chilling out to Grandad's old Bing Crosby records. Time for a read in the sun now. Chris Evan's second installment.
