My first (hopefully of many) CMA breakfast run today. To be honest I was happy just to make it to Donington services on time and without GPS! Col and Scooter apologised for overtaking me on the M1.. they thought it was someone running in a new bike. I thought I was sticking to the speed limit! Was great to see the white cross on their backs though, for God reasons, and also so I could follow them hehe.
Speedy Scooter...
So, we prayed, and then we were off, on the longest ride I've done yet! About 70 miles just to get breakfast! Struggled to get off the bike when we got there. I need to get a fatter ass! And take up climbing again so I don't get pumped. The ride was great fun. Faster than I would have gone normally, but I managed to keep up and didn't do anything silly. Felt happy at the back not holding anyone up, but with Ian behind me as last man. Did my confidence a load of good, and I feel that me and Gladis have bonded now.
So proud to have Gladis in the line up. I didn't really grasp it before, but there is just something cool about riding in a big group. Anyways, enjoyed my 'wunner' at the Night Owl near Lutterworth/Rugby. Nice chat with Les too. Followed him, Scooter and Colin home. Didn't get to meet the owner of this nice 1200 Sportster.
Invented a new version of triathlon, with motorbike and cross country running. Dashed upstairs to shove trainers in bag, set iPhone GPS and go again. Somehow (prayer) managed to arrive on time. Pulled onto the field and Bex etc were waiting for me. Hoped the bike wouldn't fall over on the bumpy grass, stripped in the middle of a field and left bike kit in a random heap, tied laces on the start line. Bex said it was an illegal transition as I left the area without my helmet on! Think Josh did really well. I held his hand for most of it, and was only dragging him a little bit! Almost got entered into the adult race, but not allowed on the day. So home to give Gladis a bath instead.
Oh yeah, another new invention.. biker knitwear! It already has Emsy's approval.
Am so looking forward to earning my white cross. Not sure about the teddies, but I think the rainbow jumper will go nicely with it!

Long way to go for chips!!
DVWT: Sunday after church the weather was far too nice to go home, so I didn't. Got Pie and Pringles from Tescos and went to Outwoods. Fully intended to go for a walk/cache after my picnic whilst reading the last Pratchett Nomes book.... but fell asleep! Mad rush to a pub as a result, missed the Norwich goal. Oops.
MBWT: Monday, did overtime with Clare. When I got home, after going to Arnold's to get brakes checked, I got a text from Jamie's Mum. Afternoon off. Hmm what shall I do. Made myself do some transcribing, then... off to Matlock for chips! I blame the guy at Arnold's cause he asked if I'd been out yesterday, or to Matlock yet.. I either need to bother with fitting the GPS, or get a memory and a sense of direction. Stayed on the A50 till flippin Uttoxeter. Miles out. Then via Ashbourne (although that was a nice route). Got the fountain cache in Matlock and had chips for tea. A little worried that my little finger has developed a 'go white and numb' thing. hmmm. Do I really need it?

Not muddy enough
Matt Ellis' leaving curry in Quorn Friday night. About 55 mins on the treadmill in the morning. Shower and cereal and bananas then out to Thrussington to do a cross country race with Josh. Was ace fun running through streams and over hay bales. Not muddy enough though, disappointingly clean at the end. Think Josh was third though. This photo clearly shows which of us was keener to win!
